We at Trans Pride Brighton have watched in horror over the last couple of years at the politically motivated attacks on the healthcare of trans children, even more so as it has intensified under the Labour government. We have taken the logical decision to ban the local Labour MP’s from our event. Chris Ward MP and Peter Kyle MP did not speak up in defence of trans kids during the December 2024 parliamentary debate, neither attended Trans Day Of Remembrance, where we marked the deaths of numerous trans youth this year, and both appear to support the widely discredited and deeply flawed Cass Report. Trans kids are dying and yet the national Labour Party has chosen to throw its full support behind the far-right culture war.
We implore Chris Ward and Peter Kyle to stay away from Trans Pride Brighton this year and to take some time to educate themselves on why politics has no place in individual healthcare, why the Cass Report is only fit for the bin and reflect on the damage they are doing to the trans and nonbinary community.
Trans kids: You are loved. We will never stop fighting for you.
